Can overseas dentists register for Dental Hygienist / Therapist in UK?
Yes. And you do not have to come to UK to register for Dental Hygienist / Therapist. Entire application is submitted to General Dental Council (GDC), which makes a decision on your application based on paper work submitted.
What are the exams to be written to work as a dentist in UK ?
You can write ORE or LDS exams to work in UK. Both the exams have 2 parts. Part 1 is theory and Part 2 is practical. Both the exams are conducted in London.
Why do I need to take ORE / LDS exams?
The Overseas Registration Exam (ORE) or Licence in Dental Surgery (LDS) are one of the two exams that overseas qualified dentists have to pass in order to register with the GDC. Registration allows dentists to practice dentistry unsupervised in the UK.
How many times are these exams conducted?
Usually, ORE is conducted up to three times a year and LDS is conducted at least once a year.
How are these exams conducted?
Both ORE Part 1 and ORE Part 2 are conducted in London. ORE 1 is computer based and ORE 2 is conducted over 3 days in various components: objective structured clnical examination (OSCE), performing on dental manikin (DM), diagnostics and treatment planning (DTP) and Medical Emergencies (ME).

How will my preparation / application impacted by Covid-19?
The application process for Dental Hygienist / Dental Therapist to registration process with GDC is complete documentation and does not required any in person visits. So again, the impact is manageable subject to certain delays in case your home universities / cities / courier services are slow. Sames is the application process with University Courses, again most of it is online application.
